The Owner? button in a lead's header pulls the owner's name and mailing address off the appraisal roll, then tells you the thing that actually matters at the door — whether the owner lives there, rents it out, or is an LLC mailing to a PO Box.

Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Hunt, Grayson, Parker and Wise counties — the whole metroplex — read straight off the public county rolls, and so does all of North Carolina, Montana and Wisconsin. No key, no cost, no monthly limit. This already works; there is nothing to switch on.

Storm work outside those areas needs a paid provider, which stays off until you save a key here.

Worth knowing before you paste one. The key is kept on this phone only — it is never synced to your crew — but the app calls the provider straight from the phone, so the key travels with the request. Both providers say in their own docs that keys should not sit in an app like this, and neither can be locked to KnockMap. Use a key with a spend cap you would not mind losing, and rotate it if a phone goes missing. Moving the key onto a server is a job we can do later if this becomes a real cost.

The verdict — occupied or absentee, and whether the title sits with a company, a trust or an estate — is cached on the lead and shared with the crew. A house held in a family's living trust is still owner occupied when the mail goes there or a homestead exemption is on file; only a company counts as a landlord. The owner's name and mailing address are shown when you look them up and are not stored anywhere.
